Top hat
A Top hat, it a tall hat that has a brim of a few centimeters deep. A top hat may also be called a high hat, silk hat or a chimney pot hat. It would often be made of silk and worn by men from the late 18th Century to the middle of the 20th Century, being made a fashion must have through Prince Albert fashioning one in 1850. At first a top hat denoted what social class a man was a part of, with the fabric of the hat differing depending on class. Eventually the top hat became a fashion statement over all classes but began to become less popular after World War 2 when it was only mainly worn by bankers and Public School boys.
