Vivienne Westwood Red

Spring-Summer 2013 – With the worlds attention on London this summer, it was Vivienne Westwood’s time to shine. She did so with her first model sporting a lime green face and a floral head piece; typical Westwood. Not so typical was the prim and proper silhouette. Apart from the vampish makeup, pearl necklaces, white satin gloves, baby pink ankle boots, soft strokes of lilac, silk headscarfs and straw boaters were all a nod to a pretty and polished show. The softer tone was refreshing and grown up, and in many instances girly – a cropped pink trouser suit with matching bag and shiny purple pointed shoes, along with a fulsome pink skirt and soft floral red blouse were incremental of this. Moving away from her symbolic drapery, Westwood created a simpler look with a gingham knitted dress nipped in at the waist by a cute ribbon, and a matching skirt, shirt and tie combo all with a lilac bengal stripe. Alongside this softer tone, there was a clear sense of British heritage, style and textile and this was true Westwood.
