Spring-Summer 2013 – It was New York smart with a London twist and to begin, it was a whiter then white colour palette with separates pertaining to this colour code – loose trousers and blazers, pencil skirts with plush, voluptuous bomber jackets and draped skirts with long sleeved tops. Kane’s reference to ‘nuts and bolts’ translated into fashion with a heavy use of fastenings; zips, buckles and poppers were prevalent throughout. Pink came next, on dresses with swaths of fabric missing and plunging necklines all with folded down fabric. The mix of textures and fabrics saw a ruffled dress dramatically wrenched in at the stomach with elastic. Pieces were seamless, as clasps in the guise of bolts stuck two-and-two together. The shoes were given a barbed coil affect sitting in well with the story of this collection. A concoction of rubber jellied coils created dresses and skirts and finale dresses had lace stuck on with white masking-tape. It was truly ingenious, a tale of femininity with soft colours and translucent hems and bows, alongside craft which usually pertains to industrial circumstances.
