Spring-Summer 2013 – Realistically, most people are waiting for one collection more than any other, and this collection is Prada. You can always leave it to Miuccia to put her authoritative stamp on anything and make it a certified trend. This time it was very new wave, hitting out at a subculture with jagged hair and boxy shapes, notwithstanding the monochrome palette. The trademark here was a spray painted and stenciled single white flower, along with block platforms which had been bow-tied with a white ribbon; very Geisha girl which pertained to the general Japanese influences. Box jackets and stiff pleated skirts began a silhouette which then morphed into complicated wraps and tunic dresses. A deep green coat was incredibly dramatic and embodied the straight edges featured on all the clothing. More exciting was a black coat with appliquéd white flowers all over. The look was sharp and edgy ensuring the cult of Prada lives on.
