Spring-Summer 2013 – You need not look further for demure, dainty and ultra feminine dresses than Valentino. That was a precedent set a long time ago and continues to preside today. The colour palette was typical Valentino: reds, blacks, nudes and whites, all very wearable and transitional onto many fabrics such as the sheerest chiffons and lace gowns. There were little snippets running up the skirts, on the bodice and around the waist giving a slight edge to otherwise cutesy pieces. At times, there was a harder edge, with black leather dresses under a chiffon sleeves and red leather coats and later, snakeskin. The prettiest white dresses came with nude bib fronts, puffed sleeves; highly desirable were the creations from broderie anglaise. Jumpsuits interspersed dresses, they were loose, long sleeved with nipped in waists and capped sleeves. Finale, sumptuous maxi-dresses in soft floral prints and lace were the epitome of what the brand stands for – resplendent clothing.
