Spring-Summer 2013 – Having celebrated Lanvin’s birthday last year, it was time for change, and to take the company in a new direction. This meant a palette of more darker hues than normal and less embellishment than has been previously seen – monochrome was central to this cause. It was mature, with the opening model wearing tux-like black suits with shining lapels. The LBD had been reworked into a squarer shape making it more individual. This square shape translated across the entire collection creating box-cut cropped jackets, bodices and mosaic panelling. Precision suits were seriously slick with tapered trousers and cropped jackets. Emphasis was again on the shoulders with them being slightly padded and sculpted. Trousers were to be worn under skirts and one-shouldered dresses were pertinent. Tutu dresses were very sweet, yet there were more seductive moments with large slits for a flash of leg and cleavage. It was mature and monochrome but given a little finesse with the bold square shape.
