Paul Smith
Autumn-Winter 2013/14
On Sunday, British designer Paul Smith presented a collection that, like his other collections, promoted a safe sense of wearability. It is this commercial aesthetic and honesty in the stitching of Paul Smith garments that makes the designer and his apparel, popular amongst men of all ages.
For winter 2013, the Paul Smith vision spoke of colour blocking suits in vibrant greens, blues and yellows adding a touch of panache to the traditionalist. With a more relaxed fitting, it meant that the more casual options such as mohair jumpers and coloured houndstooth on raincoats could be paired with the suits in either a day or night event.
Dashes of fur on waistcoats and animal print on coats and jackets were a play on the dandy gent, and for Paul Smith this sense of flamboyance captured the essence of the British gentleman in all of his eccentricity and meekness.
