Vivienne Westwood

Spring-Summer 2013 – Having seen the impressive assortment her Red Label had to offer in London, we waited with eager anticipation for the Gold Label in Paris. Holding the flag high for Britain is what Westwood does best, and this time was no different with Mary Antoinette hair, along with tapestry fabrics. Many items were heavily jewel-encrusted giving added grandeur to the medley of bustiers, basques and corsets. There were tiny lengths from bloomers with slits at the side, and little knickers with frills around the bum check. Opposing this were flouncy skirts and ball dresses falling from the knee downwards with Westwood’s archetypal drapery. The colour palette consisted of muddy brown, rich red, royal navy, and baby pink, it was very grand, particularly with opulent prints. It seemed each model had been given a character to play with a Red Riding Hood cloak and a princess with gown and crown. Westwood continues to be the protagonist when it comes to bringing eccentricity to Parish Fashion Week.
