Spring-Summer 2013 – There is nothing more suitable when presenting one of the clothing shows at Paris Fashion Week then doing so in a style. This is exactly what Marc Jacobs achieved when creating a makeshift department show in what was an impeccably executed show. The models travelled down escalators to offer the latest collection from Louis Vuitton on a yellow and white catwalk. Putting the catwalk aside, the clothes themselves were unforgettable: 64 optical looks predominantly in checked prints. The curation of a futuristic world which played on symmetry and squares of varying proportions had been inspired by the work of artist David Buren. Checks come on short, calf, and long length dresses, along with pencil skirts and tapered trousers in brown and white, yellow and white or black and white. The silhouette was slim and clean, with subtle volume from puffed shoulders. There was a continuation of the sixties theme with miniskirts, beehives and exposed midriffs, along with immaculate embellished sequins forming flower motifs. Marc Jacobs has yet again created a enthralling and entrancing collection.
