Paul Smith

Spring – Summer 2014 – Opening and closing the show with two identical, slouchy suits one in blue and one in yellow, Paul Smith presented simplistic tailoring with classic silhouette for his SS14 collection. The suits’ flared trousers with large cuffs were the signature finishes to most ensembles in his sequence, suggesting a sexy shrugged-off attitude of borrowing her boyfriend’s belongings.

Work-wear meets bohemian luxury radiated amongst the assembly with ruffled detailed blouses, oversized garments are feminized with long shirtdresses and draping fabrics. Equally as relaxed houndtooth, plaid and floral prints are enlarged to create emphasis on the traditional tailoring. Pastel palettes seem to be making a return for SS14. Pale pinks, yellows, oranges and blues conjure a crisp, refreshing feel against the rich greens, sheer whites and a bit of sparkle. Overall the collection had several pieces that shone but it lacked a certain oomph to excite us for the summery season.
