Spring – Summer 2014 – Mellow moods of melancholy and reminiscence set the tone for Giles Deacon’s collection: an aspect that has floated across the fashion industry’s Spring/Summer 14 designs. Shunning away from the spritely spring palette Giles conveys his reminiscing state through 90’s photographs taken by Glen Luchford. Staring across picturesque planes was a young Kate Moss, Amanda de Cadenet and Amber Valletta, crafted in satin in hues of Elizabethan portraits. Lip prints and crystal appliques in pink were a spin off to the rest of the collection.

A less obvious melancholic reference was the section devoted to bats, perhaps a personal reminiscence? The somewhat random addition had elements of Westwood in them. The chest of the dresses pointing like bat ears, were similar to Westwood’s famous wedding gowns. Nevertheless, it presented the finesse of the show: a flapper-styled dress sectioned with tight tulle pleats underneath a sheer shift, embroidered with pearly, black beads.
