Vivienne Westwood Red Label
Autumn-Winter 2014/15 – Staying true to what we might expect from Vivienne Westwood this AW, quirkiness met classic femininity in a lively collection that combined chic, ladylike silhouettes with playful, contemporary influences.
Tailored suits and two piece sets made up some of the silhouettes present within the collection. And, whilst some of the tailored suits felt reminiscent of the 1980s with accentuated shoulder pads and oversized edgy shapes, it was the other pieces, including the full length, belted coats, that paid clear homage to the designer’s British roots.
Amongst the several colours present in the collection, it was the reds and greys that felt the most predominant. The soft romantic greys added a layer of British heritage whilst the bursts of bold red further added to the existing level of quirkiness.
With regards to the accessories, unsurprisingly, these also appeared to draw inspiration from a variety of different influences. As vintage print head scarves met boyish braces, the aesthetic was, to say the least, lively.
With heart shaped tailoring, silhouettes to die for and unique, quirky prints, Vivienne Westwood’s collection really is one to covet this season. In true Vivienne Westwood style, we were presented with a collection that, not only paid homage to British fashion, but celebrated and re-invented it.
