Burberry Prorsum
Autumn-Winter 2014/15 – Blanket shawls, swing tailoring and split hems flowed effortlessly down the runway together in Burberry’s latest collection for AW14.
Quite unlike Burberry’s last collection, which was slim-fitting and body conscious, this collection was loose-fitting with capes casually thrown over shoulders and split maxi skirts swaying with ease to create a breezy, chic aesthetic.
Designer Christopher Bailey, who never fails to provide us with some excellent outerwear options, opted for the classic sheepskin jacket this season and even hand painted it for an updated and unique finish. Loose fitting blanket shawls were another outerwear option and were draped casually over updated versions of the brand’s signature mac. As well as oversized scarves, carpet bags and open toe heels also made up the majority of the accessories within the collection.
Combining a mixed variety of different colours Burberry’s latest range brought together pastels, teal greens, blacks, browns and wine reds. The variety of prints within the range combined Moroccan style carpets with watercolour inspired prints and then added some autumn leaf and floral print patte rns to the mixture.
Overall this breezy, flowing collection felt refreshingly different from Burberry’s most recent SS14 collection. Yet, with the display of eye-catching prints, cosy Autumn shawls and careful styling it remained equally as chic.
