Marchesa

Autumn – Winter 2013/14

With inspiration for the Marchesa show coming from the “Portrait of Maria Teresa de Vallabriga on Horseback” by Francisco de Goya, we were in for a regal treat. The collection unfolded as a modern day, 17th century European infused vintage, with luxurious colours and elaborate decoration we would expect from designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman. Intricate gold detailing in small areas or all over in some cases, was enough to make eyes water.

From rose to scarlet and burgundy, a red colour palette ran through garments in a number of ways. To break away from this intense shade, flowing dresses with sheer sleeves and ruched fabric were created in stone and black. There were also plenty of embellished trousers for an alternative evening wear look. Craig and Chapman slightly geared away from their more common fairytale creations and composed a romantic, duchess style gathering for us all to envy.
