Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – Gaultier always offers something off the cuff, something unexpected and something that moves away from the general consensus of trends at all fashion weeks. This time was no exception. Though he played on the punk aesthetic seen quite frequently at Paris, he gave it a new dimension, it was bigger, bolder and more extreme. It was glam rock with an urban feel: root dye (say good bye to dip-dye), jackets and spray painted dresses dipped into a subcultural element. Metallics were pertinent: bronze, silver and gold touched dresses and created entire suits, adding shine to a darker palette of black leather, black chiffon and grey. Nonetheless, neon blue (by way of a fur Puffa), a dash of orange (on the graffiti dresses) and a splash of fuchsia (on shrugs and scarves) solidified the Punk aesthetic of bright, bold and rebellious style.
