Balmain

Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – It was a powerful collection in that each pieces purported a message: one of indulgence via strong prints, thick quilting and stern biker leather. Olivier Rousteing issued a masterclass of how to combine, powerful dressing using the silhouette and style. The trophy jacket came in a variety of looks, but rest assured, it must be boxy and finish just above the hips. There was a rock ‘n’ roll edge to everything, whether it be a leather top tucked into a slitted, velvet maxi-skirt or the embellished silver dresses with a strong high neckline. This burly embellishment touched everything: pearls, jewels, velvet, silver and gold tucked away discreetly on belt buckles and buttons or dominated entire dresses, skirts, tops and suits; one particular suit was made out of pearls as much as it was fabric! The resulting embellishment created an ornate feel but it was also impossibly cool.
