Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – Pleasantly predictable would be the best way to describe at Paul Smith show. Rest assured, it will be elegant masculinity with great tailoring and brogues to match, but you also know that they’ll be things you’ve not seen before, such as the sprayed coral patch suit and some slinky velvet pieces. The rich autumn pallete blended beautifully with turtleneck tops (a sure trend for autumn-winter) and fine herringbone tweeds, while panels of olive and blue cashmere fitted well with soft blue pencil skirts. Slouchiness – so prevalent for the fall – reappeared once more via slinky trousers, silky dressing gowns and crushed velvet trousers. The dropped silhouette resonated throughout the show by way of oversized jumpers, extra -long dresses and oversized coats. Finale suits with black appliquéd flowers and unusual shimmering detail transcended the suit from day to evening-wear elegantly.
