Balenciaga

Autumn-Winter 2011/12 –  Nicolas Ghesquire created a very wearable collection that was ladylike and feminine with only a hint of the punk veneer that he strongly perpetrated during his last collection. The leather was of a buttered affect keeping the clothing soft and creating a fluid visage. The soft draping of the mid-length skirts teemed with jersey knits exemplified the ease of the collection.  Wonderfully tranquil prints came on a colour palette of purple, blue, red, orange and green on a white background (some might say an oriental twist in detailing). Graphic colour blocking was also prominent with straight-leg trousers in purple and a block of fuchsia pink on a colour; notwithstanding the electric blue stripes painted across the models faces. Trends that have been visible across all four fashion capitals were omnipresent here: tunics worn over trousers and zips in general (but in the case up the back of trouser legs). Balenciaga had created the ultimate feminine punk.
