Rag & Bone

Rag & Bone Woman Spring Summer 2017 – Marcus Wainwright takes credit for this show, his first solo venture at Rag & Bone. He seems to have produced a collection straight from a street style star’s dream. Off-white cargo pants and a moto jacket opened the show, a matching belt dangling down to the knee, and ankle boots finishing the look. A tuxedo shirtdress over cargo pants followed, trailed by a striped v-neck sweater, oversized and tucked into thin khakis and a dangling black belt.

Soft sweatsuits paired with red leather mules came down the runway, a white 8, and black stripe emblazoned on the right arm of the red suit. The sporty feeling continued, next in a red and white moto jacket featuring an 8 on either arm, paired with cargo pants. Between the moto jackets short, quilted jackets alternated with large parkas, given an almost comical look due to giant drawstrings and a large pocket front and center.

Many of the trendy looks from the past year made an appearance in this show. The satiny fabric of a striped suit brought sleepwear to mind, while loose jeans, a slipdress and a lace-up top each popped up in turn. A strong presence of athleisurewear was unmistakable, as sporty pieces paired with preppy or casual ones, or simply more sportswear, as seen in several cases of sweatsuits throughout, though these were each accessorized with leather mules. Fannypacks featured prominently as an accessory, and disheveled-looking trouser and jacket suit sets felt dashing. While the collection as a whole was a play on numerous Rag & Bone themes, is was cool and collected, a directional set of staples.
