Comme des Garçons

Spring-Summer 2013 – Poor King. Rei Kawakubo made it unclear whether we should feel sorry for the King or if poor refers to his monetary problems. If I was a King down on my luck I would want to exude as much luxury as this one though. Or maybe he meant the coat was King as this collection definitely championed the coat, from leather panels on soft wool to double breasted ankle skimming velvet, mostly draped over the top of pyjama like suits which made it look like a dressing gown. So maybe the King was unwell and couldnt get out of his pyjamas, but what an array of pyjamas he had in gold lame, old fashioned tartan, kimono style and camouflage. Whatever his ailments the garments were shown with immaculate finish and luxurious fabric. Poor King? Prosperous king.
