Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – The unkempt punk hair of the models and the general Goth feel to this collection screamed non-conformity. Rei Kawakubo showed a very effeminate collection, and with the theme being Neither man nor Woman once again the suit was being championed, this time with details such as a skirt or dress instead of trousers, pleated cropped trousers, a pussy bow blouse or culottes. There was a definite rebel schoolgirl feel to it, with grey blazers, trilbies and fedoras, brown or red lace up brogues and embroidered roses on black blazers. The punk rockers of the eighties would have been proud to be associated with a collection such as this, The Cure’s Robert Smith immediately springing to mind in the sexless androgyny that is invoked here.
