Alexander McQueen

Autumn-Winter 2011/12 – Sarah Burton’s autumn winter 2011 collection is true to Alexander McQueen’s style, ensuring it was full of decadence and drama.  The oversized calf length coats in dark leathers and furs and bright wool portrayed the colours of spring summer in more muted hues for a winter feel. The general feel of this collection has an air of the Second World War military encompassing large collars and cuffs, fur lined, leather clad long tailored jackets and flat military caps.  The high waisted, belted trousers and mixture of textures and tones; leather gloves and shoes, collars and cuffs, tweed and woollen jackets, silk trousers, patent/rubber shoes, velvet and metallic convey a very mature look and almost suggest a high ranking soldier. The strong bold colours in a shirt, a coat or a tie, the blue picnic blanket poncho and long red coat with a black fur lined collar are reminders that McQueen will never lose its dramatic theatrics.
