Autumn-Winter 2011/12 – Tomas Maier had a rather clumsy collection for autumn winter 11 albeit purposefully. Despite the models having a neat 1940s soldier look; not a hair out of place, tall and chiseled, his suits with thin high straight collars had messy textured fabrics, crumpled and creased.  The disordered dressing with their un-tucked shirts and collars up, suggested a serious look with a darkness underlying. Fabrics with “misgivings”, prints that look like rain splatters and grazes from a fall conveying accidents, were reinforced with bags with fraying edges, clashing angles, misplaced zips, asymmetric jacket closings and buttons in a crooked line. The colour pops that featured in the second half of the show lightened the mood slightly and reminded us that the blocking from spring summer is not to be forgotten. Overall a dark destructive feel to the collection with a colour pop.
