John Galliano

John Galliano Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Rust ruled the runway in John Galliano’s show, with ornately decorated outfits exposing a truly glamourous aesthetic.

Keeping with a mostly rich palette of copper, olive-green and purple, the collection had a gilded baroque energy, inflated further by the gathered detailing on several items. A purple coat was garnished with a large petal design which contrasted to the widen hip structure and straight lines of the hem. A fleet of burnt-orange designs came into fruition, featuring vivid tights, an oversized and open jacket with a double-breasted blazer and floral stitching to finish.

Floor length dresses were given a fringe detailing which swayed long past the hands and feet, with one such dress modeled into a suit-like design with ultra-wide lapel and décolleté neckline. Lighter designs then appeared, with sheer blouses and billowing sleeves paired with sweeping and falling skirts in lilacs and browns, offering a soft fluidity.

Statement hats and furred collars interrupted this delicate ardor by giving a dramatic edge to soft silhouettes; feathered headwear which flopped over the face worked with a structured shawled-fur collar and rectangular-toed shoes to give a hardened exterior.
