Valentino

Spring-Summer 2013

At Valentino this evening, models swept down the catwalk with the grace and elegance that comes from wearing such exquisite garments. The collection had an architectural feel to it, with spiral embroidery reminiscent of decorative wrought iron gates. Amongst midi length skirt suits and structured shoulders (a cemented trend after their many appearances this week), standout pieces included a floor length white dress, which appeared to envelop the model as if in a cocoon. As the show continued there were bursts of the signature Valentino red in strapless gowns, again highlighting the shoulders, lace embroidery became more intricate, and a floral jacquard burst across floor length gowns. Valentino can rarely do wrong when it comes to couture and designers Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri did Mr Garavani proud.
