Spring-Summer 2012 – The style of the past is the style for the future; it is so for The Great Gatsby and it is true for Mad Men, the latest cultural reference to perpetuate onto the catwalk. Say hello to the fifties, the era of the side-parted bob, a touch of sass, and a fullsome silhouette. The feminine ideal resonated through the collection via clinched-in waists and voluptuous pleated and ruffled skirts. The key feel, aside from the fifties flirtation, were the light, transparent fabrics. Gauze and chiffon created sublime skirts, delightful dresses and tantelising tops; it was sheer beauty. Silk with a sprinkling of crystal gathered into cocktail dresses of grandeur before a display of magnificent ball gowns swelling out around the waist, cascading to the floor. A white, grey and black palette with impacting moments of red fortified the collection as sheer sass and class.
