Spring-Summer 2011 – In the intimacy of the Solomon de Rothschild’s salon the designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli created a romantic representation of the female silhouette. Soft, feminine and beauty are the three things one would expect from Valentino and the three things that were delivered at this S/S11 collection. The palette of creams, nudes and beige were broken only by the iconic Valentino red. The collection was incredibly soft, with floating fabrics billowing behind the models. The clothes, mainly cocktail dresses or skirts with blouses, were sheer or see-through. Pretty details were in abundance with subtle pleats and feathers. A paramount detail was the thin, wispy bow tied in at the waist. Loose fabrics were embodied in tulle and crepe and sequin embellishment and butterfly accessories incarcerated the neck.
