Autumn-Winter 2010/11 – Successors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli achieved the impossible, creating the beautiful and intricate dresses that the man himself was so great at. This meant Valentino’s signature ideas were reworked for the modern day, but still maintained that all important romantic twist. Mini black dresses were cute with pretty bows added to the front for a more youthful audience. The dresses fell in tiers and ruffles, whether they were short or long. Such dresses were made out of heavier fabrics but gave way to delicate and light ones as the show went on. In particular, a baby pink and white chiffon dress fell to the floor in panels of lace and not forgetting that all important pink bow which was wrapped around the chest. Slightly more innovative where sculptured dresses made to look like bird cages. To finish, princess gowns with matching gloves showed that the Valentino house is still the Queen of dresses.
