Autumn-Winter 2010/11 – The dramatic landscape at the Grand Palais was not enough for Karl Lagerfeld, he filled the building with a giant iceberg in March and now with an enormous golden lion, its paws resting on a giant pearl. The pearl being so often the embodiment of beautiful, it is no surprise that the clothes were symptomatic to this beauty. The dreamy suit in which most fashion pioneers fantasize about were prevalent. Thick jackets and knee-length skirts were reconstructed: cropped tweed jackets, with sleeves finishing elbow high were placed over long-sleeved tops, then teamed with floating skirts that finished just below the knee. Fine tweed coats were smothered in glittered embellishment and circulating fur trims. Double breasted shapes on coats and jackets were paired with slimmer pencil skirts and dresses. Stunning cuffs were worn with every outfit. Towards the end, the decorative side transpired with dresses enveloped in sequins and embroidery: simply sensational.
