Autumn-Winter 2013/14 – Against a back drop of black, Rolland presented a dark and sinister show. It was vampy, whilst evoking the air of glamour that so often surrounds these Couture shows. A minimalist palette of black, deep navy and white was the perfect pretext for a sculpted silhouette. A monochrome outfit based on the classic suit and white shirt combo, was transformed with a dramatic appliqued shirt, and, what looked to be a skirt, transpired to be loose trousers brought tight around the ankle. Silk blouses became capes due to dramatic sleeves that billowed down to the floor. Cobalt blue lifted the collection, as did the shimmer of midnight blue. Larger then life embellishment added shine too, with high-waist skirts adorning sequins down the side or clinched around the waist. The use Rolland’s sculptured designs meant finale dresses of the sheerest chiffon were paired with stern and structured evening jackets. To close, a breathtaking white gown surrounded by a dramatic white cape helping to epitomise the theater of this show.
