Jean Paul Gaultier

Autumn-Winter 2013/14 – The excitement surrounding Gaultier and his theatrical collections cannot be underestimated. One sits in the knowledge that his show will present something different and wild, yet at the same time, there is the anticipation of the unknown and the unexpected that stirs within. What was delivered for AW13/14 can only be described as theatrical. Leopard print jackets, along with leopard print hair set the tone for the show. This was that every outfit featured leopard print. No stone was left unturned, the print featured on hats, on the cuff of a glove, on tights, before dominating full length gowns. Tubular curve dresses were the pinnacle of creativity, they rolled off the shoulder and came in bright red and yellow, then rubber overcoats came in cobalt blue. Clown-like trousers with oversized pockets represented the sculpted shape of the collection. Hair was twisted into top buns, whilst dresses became wilder in both fabric and in print. Gaultier, as ever, has delivered crazy Couture.
