Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2017 – Giambattista Valli exemplifies elegance and taste amidst a spectrum of different styles. Representing the belle of every ball, the diversity of the dresses demonstrates a multitude of designs; from plain nude satin to embellish floor length sheer fabric, the vast presence of the collection is notable. Depth and dimension are created in the layering of different fabrics as part of wide skirts, contrasting the linearity of some of the more floating, longer pieces. Hair and makeup were simple and uniform, emphasizing natural beauty with bare eyes and a nude lip. A variety of embellishments proliferate throughout the individual designs, ranging from oriental flower prints and bursts of bloom to sparse belts coupled with fur tassels. Despite an impressive use of colour, Valli sticks to a neutral’s palate, making the collection one seemingly invested in the range of beauty offered by the natural world.
