Comme des Garcons

Comme des Garcons Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – Flowers, three-dimensional creations and more floral inspiration were the integral components of Comme des Garcons memorable autumn/winter collection.

Each design was highly intricate with the painstaking process of constructing the individual petals of the fabric flowers and uniquely crafted geometric shapes immediately evident.

At the same time, whilst highly striking and structural, the pieces also managed to appear in ways that extended beyond the fun and girly floral prints to celebrate the female form.

The first piece down the runway set the tone with the model’s breasts and up to her upper thigh exposed, but the 3D structure ensured there was a lively strength to the look, not the fragility of half-nakedness.

In multiple pieces that followed, the constructions also seemed to double as body armour, providing strong female warrior vibes through the embroidered shoulder pads and pink lower arm coverings that evoked gun hostels.

There was also a youthful exuberance to many of the designs, especially those created with less angular shapes. The rolled up circles of floral duvet-like material of one piece had a playful softness, reminiscent of childhood sleepovers, whilst the careful positioning of the shapes meant the model’s shoulders and general body were overcome less than several of the other creations.

  1. Colours and fabrics are very interesting. Not sure about the styles. I suppose that this is being expressed though the designs.
