Balenciaga Man Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Demna Gvasalia delivers a show where the garments and models reflect a mixture of authority with the cool, street attitude.  Accessories played an important part in showing the combining of these two approaches. Structured long coats were teamed with leather bags and winter boots. Suits were seen with open buttoned shirts and trainers promoting freedom of styling for men. The use of red and blue complimented the muted tones of black, grey and brown. Architectural shapes, a classical feature of Balenciaga, were present on the shoulders of jackets and blazers. The look that caught my attention was the checked long coat styled with a mustard shirt.  However, it is the street looks that demonstrated the most unapologetic cool attitude. These looks consisted of models wearing jackets with their hoods up, checked shirts and loose velvet trousers. Overall, this collection has a presence but the designs could have been developed further.
