Ann Demuelemeester Menswear Spring-Summer 2016

This collection has references to the art movement Art Deco: through Meunier’s use of rich colours, bold geometric shapes & lavish ornamentation. The collection is predominately monochrome with accents of beautiful, rich teals and oranges that create an exceptional visionary. The combination of the colours and the different shapes and materials used all contribute to the exquisite aesthetic that the show embraces. Some defining features of the show include a modern take on the traditional tuxedo accessory, a cummerbund that most of the models are styled in. The collection is defined by Meunier’s successful ability to add definition to the looks by her layering of different materials and lengths. The layering consists of transparent pieces that feature throughout the collection in the form of transparent sleeves, grid transparent overlay and transparent shirts. In reference to the art deco features that appear in this collection the cleaver use of buttons on the shirts and jackets add to the dynamic aesthetic.
