Alexis Mabille Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2017 – This collection demonstrates the beauty of the rainbow, with the utilization of different colours immediately prominent throughout the runway. Demonstrating attempts from Mabille to emanate the movement of the wind, the use of white works in conjunction with coloured rings in a modern attitude to depth and dimension. Stripes and colour add variety to otherwise block pieces, however pastel veils also work to tint the seemingly unalterable bright hues of the dresses showing an innovative awareness of the alterability of colour itself. The relevance of the colour spectrum is used in tandem with varying fabrics, different intensities of red being displayed through the contrasting use of lace and sheer mesh. Sweetheart necklines maintain a softness and fluidity in conjunction with the use of flowing skirts. Minimalistic eye makeup with brown nude lips and flawless skin emphasis natural beauty alongside effortless beach waves, working in contrast with taffeta collars and sequins that emphasize the depths of the individual pieces.
