Acne Studios

Acne Studios Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – Acne Studios autumn/winter collection was all about wrapping up warm but doing so without any alignment to conventionality.

The first look, in a style that recurred throughout the show, was an oversized tweed coat, tied in at the waist with a wire belt and with a matching large circular wire brooch. Whilst the sleeves were large, broadening the shoulders, femininity remained, as the design was styled opened in a subverted V, providing more than a little flash of leg.

Another coat in bright orange was worn on the upper arm, extending to the model’s calf and fashioned not unlike a sleeping bag. A similar, shorter style in light butter yellow was also worn completely off the shoulders like a shawl, with only one of the bright silver snap fastenings done up and in an irregular fashion, emphasising the very padded nature of the quilted designs. This distorted traditional silhouette lines, revealing one of a multitude of knitted bodysuits beneath, showcasing how staying warm can still be made sensual.

These bodysuits also came in PVC and metallic styles, tying into the combining of these materials in coats with large quilted sleeves and PVC bodies which seemed to threaten to drip of the models’ frames.

Not to be outdone on colour either, the collection also incorporated animal prints in a variety of primary colours. Many models wore tights and thin bodysuits which seemed to give them leopard print skin but the biggest explosion of the print was contained in a voluminous mohair coat, half yellow in colour and half blue with green leopard print also making an impact on the lower sleeve.
