3.1 Phillip Lim Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Phillip Lim’s Fall collection was suave, sophisticated and displayed a vast range of designs, all tied together with intricate thematic details such as the incorporating of oversized fishnet sleeves or under layers. The repetition of certain styles of high waisted trousers in different shades, black, pink, cream, created a rhythm throughout the collection.
Despite the fact the collection was mostly made up of black and white items, the magenta walls and red carpet of the runway accentuated the pops of colour throughout the collection, creating a genuinely happy and light-hearted vibe. One of the most striking uses of colour was the frequent combination of cobalt blue and black, a timeless combination which was given a new lease of life.
Particular details stood out, especially against the red and pink backdrop, including the inclusion of coloured racer stripe details on shoes and socks. Models with black sock blues had blue stripes and blue rimmed socks, and models with white boots had green. This pop of colour injected fun into the collection, and softened up otherwise serious, business-chic looks.
