New York Fashion Week: highlights from the final day.
Marc Jacobs
The designer’s first show since his departure from Louis Vuitton was a stunning mix of refined neutral tones and soft pastel colors, unveiled on a set featuring Magritte-style clouds suspended from the ceiling. The 1970s sci-fi vibe appeared in the flared pants, sequins, knit and jersey dresses, and dyed shearling jackets.
Calvin Klein Collection
Francisco Costa created a collection which managed to balance New Age traveler and ladylike influences. Models appeared in ponyskin Doc Marten-style boots, soft wool and mohair coats and dresses (the coats came with chunky bead and safety-pin closures), all in a balanced earthy palette.
Ralph Lauren
The US designer served up more classic womenswear in a mix of grays, soft pinks, whites and creams. There were plenty of luxurious touches: from the satin gowns, knee-high suede boots and chic one-shoulder silk blouses to the cashmere and Mongolian lamb finishes.
