In the mid-nineties when the mood was predominantly grungy, hip hop or Goth, the virgin suicides brought a softer feminine pallet to fashion.

A story about 5 sisters who commit a suicide pact, the dark subject matter is opposed by the sheer beauty of the films aesthetics, a trademark for director Sophia Copolla. It features soft, sheer summer dresses worn with sandals and flower embellishments.

It’s ironic innocent style is still copied in summertime the world over.
