Tricot

Tricot fabric is a knitted fabric. It is produced on a knitting machine and is a ‘warp’ knit. It can be recognised by having fine ribs running down the length of the face of the fabric. These ribs are angled slightly diagonal on the reverse. Tricot is most commonly knitted from filament yarns such as viscose, acetate, nylon, polyester and silk. This means that the yarns are continuous and do not have to be joined. Tricot is resistant to ladders, runs and fraying and drapes well. This fabric is used mostly in underwear, sweaters and gloves. The term ‘Tricot’ is French for ‘Knitting’.
