Towelling

Towelling fabric is made most commonly from cotton. It is constructed using a pile weave and the pile is left uncut, so that it is in the form of loops. Towelling is an absorbent fabric that is available in many colours. It is used for making towels, washcloths and dressing gowns as they all need to be absorbent. Towelling fabric has a nap which must be considered when making garments from them as all the pieces need to have the nap running the same way. The looped pile on towel fabrics is generally on both sides, which means that this fabric doesn’t necessarily have a definite right and wrong side.
