Surah

Surah fabric is a soft, lustrous fabric. It is constructed using a twill weave and has been in production since the 1820’s. This fabric has been used for dresses, blouses, suits, scarves, ties and linings. It was originally made from silk, but can also be made using other filament fibres or blends. Surah fabric is prone to creasing, it is notoriously difficult to work with as it slips at the seams. It can be plain dyed or printed and is named after the West Indian Port city of Surat, a textile manufacture Centre.
