Fields

A field pattern is any part of the pattern that is not the border, for example the main part of the pattern. Field patterns can be made up of many designs or motifs, they can be organic of geometric and the can be either realistic or surreal. Many different scales and colours and repeats can be used and the majority of these patterns have to be printed onto a finished piece of fabric rather than colour woven.
