Cluny Lace

Cluny Lace is a strong ivory or white bobbin lace. It is usually made of cotton, silk or linen. Cluny Lace can be recognised from other types of lace by its circular wheel-like designs. It was first manufactured in the middle of the 19th Century in France and was later manufactured in Belgium and England. Cluny Lace is generally used as a trimming on dresses or for insertions. It takes its name from the lace work that was exhibited in the 16th and 17thCentury at the Cluny Museum in Paris, where the inspiration was taken from. It can either be manufactured by hand or by machine.
