CHRISTIAN DIOR: CRUISE COLLECTION 2012

Posted on

A bold and chic aesthetic was on the agenda at the house of Dior for the 2012 Resort collection. From simple shift dresses and coats featuring block colour sleeves and hems, to luxurious kaftans with intricate beading, the collection presented us with a look for every holiday occasion. The lookbook, shot in front of retro styled beach huts and under idyllic blue skies, encapsulated the feel of the collection; beach elegance whilst still being stylish enough for a night of cocktails. The graphic dresses and tunics paired with decorative heels and handbags were more classic Dior than any of the other pieces, and their geometric quality seeped into the latter pieces, included a vibrant crochet dress and monochrome printed jumpsuit. The structured form of the early pieces relaxed as the collection went on, with drop waisted dresses embellished with sequin panels and luxe kaftans, specifically an exquisite version in cobalt blue mousseline.

This collection was perhaps a more commercial take on the usual Dior look, yet succeeded in its simplicity and aim to evoke summer days on the Italian resort of Portofino.
