Spring-Summer 2015 – Donna Karan’s SS15 took a different direction, a direction opposite of last year’s journeywoman aesthetic. Perhaps owing to the handmade and craft revival that has been developing over the years, chic suits and a magnificent flared full length gown featured a paradoxical well-placed hodge-podge of fabrics, embroidery, beadwork, tassels and embellishments that wouldn’t have been out of place at a (very chic) granny’s house.

Not content to just keep to one trend, however, Donna Karan kept to a strict palette of beige, red, blue to enhance her intricate and well placed art prints of alphabets and paint splatters, and utilised black and white to showcase the more uncomplicated cuts featuring criss cross crop tops, midi length and pencil skirts, crop trousers and breezy shirt dresses. Towering hats that Pharrell would enjoy added the unique twist that made the collection stand that bit more out of the crowd, but her unfussy, slim profiles, superb styling and mix of 2D and 3D embellishments already managed to do that.
