Miu Miu

Miu Miu Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Miu Miu displayed a stunningly refined collection whose sharp and lively colour scheme distinguished the looks against a plain runway, elevating the pieces as a step up from the ordinary, day-to-day life experience.

With a playful vibrancy that aimed itself towards a carefree juvenility, the collection was a mélange of preppy yellows, busy prints featuring telephones and cats, retro stripes, and an effort to give outfits some sparkle with diamanté detailing on collars, necklines and belts. Headwear gave an added burst of spontaneity, incorporating furry sunhats and giant, almost Cossack hats usually tied below the chin as part of a fun-loving ethos.

Like elsewhere at Paris Fashion Week, shoulders proved to be a centerpiece with huge fur collars being attached to pastel-coloured coats to create a protruding fluff shoulder, and antebellum prints featuring slightly puffed sleeves. Shoulders were also left bare in a striped, halter neck sport-style dress; the strong line complementing the flowy nature of the thin material.

The finer, more intricate details also cultivated the bouncy and lighthearted tone already established in the collection as a whole, through furred knee-length boots and snake-skinned bags with a fuzzed out-layer: colourful, merry and young.
