Elie Saab Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Elie Saab never fails to impress, firmly establishing himself as the emperor of the majestically impressive gown, shimmering and shining from start to finish.

The deep tones of purple, black and royal blue as well as the high necked detailing of ribbons and bows veiled the collection with mystery and masked allure. Contrasting sharp velvet with the subtlety of ethereal pleats and flowing, chiffon dresses with crisscrossed bodices provided a balance between the traditional and contemporary glam. Elaborate outwear, such as an off-the-shoulder cape and bold fur collars hinted at an extravagant whimsicality.

Sheer skater skirts were embroidered with a gold trim, while corseted dresses featured laced backs and drew attention to the waist via belted ensembles and

soft appliqués designs. Feathers, ruffles and gold embellishment formed a more elaborate collection than Saab usually exhibits, with some of the leather attire, such as a thigh-high boot or tight-fitted trouser, issuing a brooding temptress aura.

Elie Saab’s AW17 runway was once again filled with remarkable and romantic combinations of elegant gowns that exuded the exquisite ingenuity that has become synonymous with his work.
