Alberta Ferretti

Alberta Ferretti Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – Alberta Ferretti’s FW17 collection made news for featuring Muslim model, Halima Aden who walked the runway in head scarf. In an effort for more inclusion, the collection focused on showing diverse views of femininity. And femininity was certainly on display. Fluid chiffon pieces worked to caress and flatter the female form. Overall the collection had a traditionalist quality about them. Played up even more by mod-style stripes and  Art Deco-inspired gowns (reminescent of the designer SS ’94 Great Gatsby collection). However the fresh use of prints and accessorizing provided the contemporary touch to keep it from being dated. Towards the end we see a feather gown that reminds us why Alberta Ferretti is a legend in this industry. The collection wraps up with cloak-clad looks that give us flashes of Grimm’s Fairy Tales (Little Red Riding Hood, anyone?) and an impressive display of zardozi embroidery. But this is a collection not short on impressive detailing.
